The OSAAAHA sends its Congratulations to Nick Baptiste on Gold Medal at the IIHF WORLD U18 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nick Baptiste, the first player to go through the Ottawa Senators program from Minor Bantam until he was drafted into the OHL 2 years ago, has now won a World Championship at the U 18 level.

The Sudbury Wolves 1st round selection, Baptiste, captured his second world championships in less than a year when the 17-year-old Nepean native won gold with Team Canada at the IIHF WORLD U18 CHAMPIONSHIPS in Sochi, Russia.

Baptiste was a key contributor to the team's success by recording two assists in the Team Canada 3-2 victory over Team USA in the Gold Medal contest. Baptiste finished the tournament with 3 goals and 8 points to finish in second place in scoring on Team Canada and 6th place overall in the tournament scoring.

Baptiste has blossomed offensively since the mid-way mark of the season and has become a game-breaker with his offensive skills, speed and vision.

Baptiste  won gold in Omsk, Russia back in August when the Sudbury Wolves won the World Junior Club Championship with a 2-0 victory over Team USA represented by Waterloo of the USHL.

Congratulation to Baptiste from the OSAAAHA and good luck at the upcoming NHL draft.
